Using AV Scanners with Reflex Disknet for Windows 9x V3.09
If you are also running the On-Access component, we would recommend the following settings:
From the Properties section:
- You will need to add an exclusion to "A:\" to prevent conflicts.
- The Detection tab should have the options to scan floppies on Access and Shutdown disabled.
- The Action tab should have the deny access to infected file and continue option selected
- The Report tab should have the report to log file option selected
- The Report tab should have all options of what to log turned on
Warning! If Sherlock is not used as well as this scanner, any infected macro documents within ZIP files will not be detected. This is due to RMI preventing the document being unzipped to a temporary directory on the hard disk, and hence the scanner cannot detect the virus. If Sherlock is used as well as this scanner, Sherlock will correctly spot the virus and the disk will be failed.
Warning! Floppy disks with password protected ZIP files will not generate any errors, and the disk will be authorised without checking inside these files. We would recommend running Sherlock alongside this scanner to prevent any viruses potentially getting through (although Sherlock will not scan inside these files, it will generate an error, and hence the disk will not be authorised)
Warning! A task / Schedule for automatically scanning the local hard drives will generate PSG alerts on execution. The same will occur if you manually run a scan over the Hard Drive.
