Reflex Disknet Pro Earns Common Criteria Certification
April, 2005Reflex Disknet Pro meets highest International standards set for IT security software
Reflex Magnetics today announced it has received Common Criteria EAL2 certification for its flagship security product, Reflex Disknet Pro 4.5. This certification has been awarded following a long and rigorous independent testing process, which confirms Reflex Disknet Pro meets the international standards (set of criteria) for IT security products, as defined by the international Common Criteria organisation.
Common Criteria certification guarantees conformity to international IT security standards accepted by over 20 countries, and is increasingly demanded by both government and enterprise customers worldwide. During an independent evaluation, conducted by EDS, the product was examined in detail for compliance with the developers claims and the results were submitted for a final decision to the certification body, which in the UK is CESG, the National Technical Authority for Information Assurance.
Andy Campbell, managing director of Reflex Magnetics commented, "We have been very aggressive in pursuing Common Criteria certification for our Reflex Disknet Pro product. Many of our customers are government bodies or organisations who believe data security to be a high priority. Customers are extremely impressed with the capabilities of the product, but this certification gives them added reassurance when it comes to justifying a security policy."
"Many organisations, particularly government, now seek Common Criteria as part of the purchasing criteria. Following this certification we expect to see a significant increase in interest in Disknet Pro, as more and more customers realise its potential" Andy continued.
Ron Logie, data security manager for Skipton Building Society has been using Disknet Pro for over six years as the lynchpin of his security policy. Ron confirms the effectiveness of the product, "By using Reflex Disknet Pro for over six years, I can say that Skipton Building Society has protected itself from the majority of virus infections, as well as securing the integrity of our data. "
The Reflex Disknet Pro security tool has attracted world-wide interest for its approach to data and PC security, which focuses on controlling the use of removable media devices from simple USB memory sticks to portable media players such as the iPod. With the increasing use of plug and play operating systems such as Windows 2000 and XP, and increasing storage capacity, these devices can be used to remove data or introduce malicious code, with only the most basic of user rights. The security implications of possible data theft or hacker attacks means that businesses are increasingly looking for ways to minimise these kinds of risks.
