NVCScan & Sherlock Updates

The latest definition files used by NVCScan and Sherlock V2 are always available for download from this web page.

These files are password protected and the latest password is sent out via our Active Upgrade Program by email.

The additions to the virus library for this version and previous versions are listed in a text file (new.txt) within the zip file.

Occasionally the scanning engine needs to be updated as well. This engine file is Operating System specific so there is a different file for each platform. Accordingly you can download the version for your platform from the table below. If you are using more than one platform there is also a multi-platform version which contains all the latest files.

We have included the latest engine files in each ZIP file to allow you to ensure you are running the latest scanning engine which will be required to detect some of the latest viruses.

To upgrade your NVCScan or Sherlock V2 - simply extract the 2 .DEF files (NVCMACRO.DEF and NVCBIN.DEF) into the directory the scanner is being run from. The default directories are: c:\norman for NVCScanc:\disknet for Windows 9x and c:\dnetnt for Windows NT.
